About
Nox is a Black AuDHD artist and storyteller whose work merges fantasy, political commentary, and deep emotional truths. A lifelong creative with roots in the visual arts, Nox transitioned to writing after witnessing the pervasive racism and gatekeeping that stifled Black voices in the animation industry. With the written word, they found liberation-a space where no one could silence their voice or censor their truth. Free Black Canary is Nox's debut novel and the beginning of a sweeping saga exploring trauma, autonomy, resistance, and the transformative power of found family. Blending elements of dark fantasy, romance, and epic action, their stories center Black protagonists in complex, magical worlds that reflect the harsh beauty of our own. For Nox, fantasy isn't just escapism-it's protest, reclamation, and visibility. Through layered characters and morally charged narratives, Nox writes to express what it means to live in Black skin in a world designed to erase it. Their work speaks directly to those who've been overlooked or silenced-especially fellow Black readers-offering them not just representation, but power, tenderness, rage, and triumph. Writing, for Nox, is survival and connection. It's a way to transmute lived pain into art that resonates with others who've felt unseen. Their goal is simple but urgent: to tell the stories they needed growing up, and to let others know-they are not alone.
